A new addition to my lens collection arrived today, after much discussion with the delivery service personnel when a notice arrived at my front door informing me that I was not home when I was, in fact, very much home all day long. But that's a story for another time.
I had been doing a lot of research about prime lenses and was very eager to try one out. Before today, I had the 18-55mm lens that came with my Nikon D90, a 70-200mm telephoto lens that I got from a friend of mine, an 18-105mm that I got with my new camera, and now [drum roll] a Nikon 50mm f/1.4G prime lens. Its not a zoom lens, like my other lenses, so that was the first thing that took some getting used to. But it takes some really great photos. It's especially fun to take pictures with a shallow depth of field with it. Check out this apple for example! (I used the auto settings for this one since I'm still getting used to it). ISO 1000, 50mm, f/2.2, 1/250, RAW - I exposed it a little more after I uploaded it to my computer as it came out a little darker than I wanted.
